Eco Friendly Sustainable Office Architecture Building, Univelerhaus by Behnisch Architekten
Behnisch Architekten, German practice architecture firm, has proved again and again its commitment to the development of the sustainable office building. And their project, in Hamburg´s Hafencity redevelopment area, took this commitment to new levels and become Office Winner of World Architecture Festival 2009.
Unileverhaus, the new headquarters for the Unilever Germany Company, is situated in a prominent location in Hamburg’s HafenCity, one of the most dynamic new urban developments in Europe. Unileverhaus has fine eco friendly and sustainable office building design and it could become a model that demonstrates where the next generation of office building design begins.
The facade of the building is the first single skin ETFE facade which screens pollution without needing another layer of glass. The other great merit of the project was how it drew public space into the heart of the plan.
The commitment to sustainability of green architecture firm Behnisch Architekten was also amply demonstrated at a detailed level, with the entire building lit by custom-designed LED lighting (saving 70% of the energy of conventional lighting).
